Known locally as “The Psych Center”, Kings Park Psychiatric Center in New York is an eerily abandoned Mental Health Institute that holds a dark past. When it first opened in 1885, the center was reasonably ethical for the time. Patients would be given tasks to do that were related to farming, such as feeding animals or cleaning out pens, as this was considered as a good form of therapy for them. However, as time went by, the place started to become like many other asylums, with horrendous overcrowding and rumors of abuse. Later on, modern doctors took away the “lunatic farm” form of therapy that had worked so well and decided to perform lobotomies on unruly patients or give them electro-shock therapy. It is said that their souls still wander the hallways and empty rooms, looking for a way out.
